no questions too small
“I DON’T BELIEVE PEOPLE ARE LOOKING FOR THE MEANING OF LIFE AS MUCH AS THEY ARE LOOKING FOR THE EXPERIENCE OF BEING ALIVE.”~Joseph Campbell
From its inception, Aspen Shakti was designed as a mind, body, spirit wellness center for healing as a community on and off the mat. Shakti offers classes, workshops, trainings, one-on-one sessions and events to open and stimulate the mind, body and spirit and to inspire the experience of BEING FULLY ALIVE, hence existing as a place to practice and realize the ‘Aspen Idea’. Very special detailed attention has been paid to create a sanctuary space where EVERYONE is welcome. Aspen Shakti is a place to dive into oneself, unearth what needs to go, celebrate what is fabulous and walk away lighter, more connected and more ALIVE. This intention is woven through every class, every item, even the physical space. Equally as important, the teachers/practitioners who work at Shakti authentically live and walk the practice and serve as models and leaders of fully alive living within their families and communities and we recognize that we are all on this journey together, side by side . . and this warmth, truth and love is palpable and ever present and it sets Aspen Shakti apart.
The Body Practice is a system of classes created by Aspen Shakti founder Jayne Gottlieb that follows the Hero’s Journey and weaves together an expansive and transformational experience for the mind, body and spirit. Within every class students will have the opportunity to purify thoughts, emotions and patterns, release limitations, reset, and COME ALIVE! It will feel very much like a familiar yoga or fitness class with all the favorite benefits and challenges and triumphs . . AND you will be pushed and held throughout the overall experience at a very high level. On the outside the experience will feel very much like yoga, fitness, meditation . . but on the inside deeper magic will be happening if you are open to it!
You do NOT need to make a reservation to attend class, however the best way to ensure and reserve your spot in any class is to sign up online. You may reserve your spot in a class anytime before class starts. We reserve spots for walk-in clients in each class, so don’t stress if a class shows as full online. Just show up early, and your chances are good! If you reserve a spot online and do not come to class, you will be charged unless you cancel your reservation online 30 minutes in advance.
Naturally we strongly recommend making time to attend the entire class from start to finish, but we also understand life happens and we encourage you to come no matter what - some yoga is better than no yoga. You are welcome to enter and exit any time. Please respect your fellow students by quietly entering or exiting. If you can, give the studio a call so we can put a mat down for you to make the transition as seamless as possible.
Please stop by the front desk and check in with our host/hostess, even if you have pre-booked online. Most importantly we want to get to know you and welcome you, but it’s also important for our business to keep track. Thank you.
You may pay by cash or credit card when you arrive or you may register ahead of time. We recommend Online Registration for our busier classes in order to secure your space.
New students should plan to arrive to class a minimum of 15 minutes prior to their first class.
This ensures adequate time to get you signed-in, orient you to the space and set-up on your mat.

Aspen Shakti, originally the Aspen Shakti Shala, first opened in late summer 2014. Since then we have inspired and loved serving the Aspen community and we are thrilled to be operating to this day.
You will feel a difference after one class. It really is that powerful. Try to stick with it two-three or more times a week. Most importantly, just try and do a little something as often as you are able. The more you bring the practice into your life the faster the benefits will find you! You should always take at least one day off a week.
No, we are not considered a traditional ‘hot yoga’ studio, however we DO have hot and sweaty classes. Most classes are between 78-85degrees. We do have great ventilation and ceiling fans that help keep the air flowing and the room feeling fresh
We welcome any student age 8 and older. Please note that any student under the age of 18 must have a signed parental/legal guardian consent form, which may be picked up at our front desk.
We have plenty of rental mats. These mats are wiped and sanitized between uses. A complimentary mat rental is included with any full-price drop-in.

Please observe the sacred silence of the meditation classes. This quiet stillness is one of the greatest gifts we give each other and ourselves. Meditation is like going to the gym. You can’t go once and expect immediate results. If you stick with it, it will change your life. You don’t need to learn every form of meditation; you just need to find the one that suits you best.

Try not to eat two-three hours before you practice. We twist the body and turn it upside down and bend it forward quite a lot. If you do need to nourish yourself, consider a light snack like juice or a handful of nuts 30 minutes beforehand.
Wear something that you LOVE and something that makes you feel great! We recommend wearing nothing too restrictive so that you can move easily. Wear what feels comfortable and what can handle sweat. One thing you should not wear is a scent. Make sure you shower and remove perfumes or colognes. Don’t worry about footwear since we practice barefoot.
