There is a feeling that happens when a room full of people moves together and something clicks. Sociologists call it collective effervescence. Tracy Straus has spent 30 years creating it, and this summer she is creating it here.
Bija Beat is a high-energy, all-levels dance experience set to live and curated music, built around real choreography. Sequences you learn, build on, and start to own. Every Saturday morning, all summer long.
Your body already knows how to move. This class teaches it what to say.
Bija Beat blends joyful cardio with real choreography, taught the way Tracy has taught for three decades: clear, warm, and built so that no one is left behind. The front of the room shifts. Everyone leads. You will learn sequences that grow richer week over week, set to music that makes it impossible to stand still.
No dance experience required. If you love to move, you belong in this room. If you have been looking for one more morning of dancing and sweating in your week, this is it.
Come once and you will understand. Come all summer and watch what your body learns.

She developed Bija Beat during a fellowship at The Center for Ballet and the Arts at NYU. Twenty-five years ago she founded Celebrate the Beat, the Colorado nonprofit that has brought free, professional dance education to over 50,000 children, and it all started right here in Aspen.
